Eric Schmidt
MSW, RSW
Eric received his Masters of Social Work degree from the Wilfrid Laurier University during which he completed a clinical counselling internship at Happy Valley Family Health Team. He has also worked in the field of adult mental health and addictions for over 15 years.
He strongly believes in the strength, the resiliency, and the creativity of individuals, families and groups. His approach involves providing a safe and non-judgmental environment in which clients can express their thoughts and their feelings.
After carefully listening, in collaboration with his clients, goals are set. He assists clients by providing tools, strategies and relevant information that serves as a guide on their recovery journey.
He draws from a variety of different modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Using these modalities, he tailors his approach to meet the needs of each individual, each family and each group.
He comes to each session with an open mind, a readiness to listen and an eagerness to help.
