John Hishon
MSW, RSW
John earned his Bachelor of Social Work with the University of Windsor and his Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University. His prior experience includes working alongside Police on a first response crisis team, as well as mental health crisis, addictions, and court diversion teams. John works with individuals with a focus on mental health, trauma, grief, addictions, and anger management.
John’s approach is to build a foundation of self-compassion and acceptance to open pathways to self-exploration and insight. His prior experience and training draw from a wide array of tools including EMDR, Internal Family Systems Therapy, CBT, Solution Focused, Somatic and several other therapeutic modalities. He works to create a safe and authentic environment where clients can bring all aspects of their lives into focus.
He is a Certified EMDR Therapist with EMDRIA. John is a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers; he is registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers as well as EMDRIA.
