Lisa Wilvert is a Registered Psychotherapist and a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Lisa is passionately committed to guiding you to work through life’s challenges, crisis and difficulties to find balance, purpose and meaning in life.
Lisa feels that it is both a privilege and an honour to walk alongside you as you navigate difficulties, uncertainties and challenges in life. With great care, compassion and with an emphasis on safety, Lisa invites you to share your unique situation. Through deep listening and her gentle presence, Lisa helps you to identify your goals, develop a plan, recognize your own strengths and internal resources and to help navigate and overcome current distresses and hurdles.
With a wide-ranging toolkit of evidence-based and practice-based modalities, Lisa will suggest and look to implement tools that resonate with you. Lisa’s integrated therapy approach incorporates a holistic view of mind, body and spirit and includes cognitive and behavioural principles and tools, mindfulness-based, somatic and psycho-spiritual therapies.
Lisa’s mindfulness-based tools are integrated from the ground up in her own experiences. Initially as a means for reducing her own stress, Lisa has been studying and practicing mindfulness-based meditation since 1999. Her interest spurred further academic studies and her practice has deepened under the guidance and teaching of Tibetan meditation masters and Western meditation teachers in Canada, the United States, India and Nepal.
Lisa incorporates sound work or contemplative and mindful sound to foster inner awareness, stillness and healing. Lisa is particularly interested in the power of sound to reduce stress and to integrate healing.
Lisa holds a Master of Pastoral Studies in the Spiritual Care stream in Buddhism and focus on Buddhist approaches to mental health and a graduate certificate in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy from Emmanuel College at Victoria University in the University of Toronto. Additionally, Lisa has a Specialist Certificate in Applied Mindfulness Meditation from the Clinical Mindfulness and Psychotherapy program at the University of Toronto, Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work.
For over a decade, Lisa has been working with individuals challenged by anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, life transitions, self-worth, or relationship issues. Lisa welcomes the opportunity to walk with you on your journey towards reducing your distress, regaining your balance and recognizing your own internal resources that will allow you to thrive.
