Marshall Chanda
Marshall is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, holds a designation of Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and an M.Ed degree in Counselling Psychology from Western University. Marshall has over 25 years of experience working in the field providing counselling and psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, and families.
Marshall has a breadth of experience, having worked in community counselling agencies and programs, counselling offices in post-secondary institutions (both colleges and universities), employee assistance programs, and in private practice and consulting.
Marshall has experience working with clients for a wide variety of issues, including (but not limited to) anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, abuse, addictions, grief, anger, vocational/career assessment, and relationship difficulties. He works from a client-centred approach, incorporating a variety of theories and practices in providing support to clients. He believes in taking an eclectic approach to providing counselling interventions, by seeking to utilize approaches in a tailored manner, to find the best possible fit for the individual or couple seeking help for their issues of concern.
Marshall engages in ongoing professional development to further his knowledge of various theories and techniques to incorporate into his practice work. Some of these include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution Focussed Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems Therapy, and the Gottman Method for Couples Therapy.
Marshall has background in providing tragic response and critical incident debriefing, administering various career/vocational assessment tools, delivering suicide awareness and prevention programs, and presenting psychoeducational skills workshops and groups. Marshall has lectured/taught at the post-secondary level, both at colleges and universities within Ontario.
On a personal level, Marshall is married and has six children, enjoys reading and nature activities, has coached in youth sports, and has done volunteering and committee work with various community organizations.
