Martha is a narrative therapist with extensive training and professional supervision in this modality and employs this approach to help people with the problems they are facing.

As a narrative therapist, Martha works to co-create the following with you:

  • A highly respectful, thoughtful, safe and collaborative environment to explore your problems, whether these are from the past or present, and discover what knowledges, skills and wisdom you have in standing up to these problems.
  • An experience where you leave sessions feeling a greater sense of rest and relief in your mind.
  • An opportunity for connections to be discovered between the problems you face and new ways of relating to and understanding those problems.
  • Accessibility to understanding how you have resisted these problems and what this resistance says about what is important to you and what you value.
  • A discovery of your preferred way of living and being and supporting you in making the steps to reflect those.
  • A safe place for your problems and the suffering they cause, to be listened to with empathy and acknowledgement.

Martha is deeply committed to feminist values and is particularly passionate about addressing gender-based violence and the effects this has on women, whether they are still facing it daily or living with the effects of it from past experiences. She is adept at identifying and addressing power dynamics in women’s relationships, both overt and subtle. She is dedicated to supporting women living with the effects of violence on an individual 1-1 level, as well as addressing it from a social justice and advocacy standpoint.
