It takes courage and commitment to ask for help and making the decision to connect with a social worker is a big step for many. Speaking with a social worker may arise because of crisis or emotional distress that you have been living with for a long time.
Nicole has over fifteen years of experience working with diverse populations including adults and the geriatric population. She has extensive experience supporting individuals living with anxiety and depression, ADHD, addiction, as well as those who are transitioning through life experiences. Nicole has a special interest in working with those who live with trauma and/or post-traumatic stress disorder, those who have experienced or who are experiencing domestic, sexual and/or sibling violence, as well she is passionate about working with individuals who are living with dementia and/or their care partners.
Nicole graduated with her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Victoria and her Masters of Social Work from the University of Waterloo, Renison College. As a social worker, Nicole continues to strengthen and develop her skills; she has completed training in a number of evidenced based practices including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Therapy. Nicole is client-focused – meeting you where you are at in your journey. Nicole also holds a Masters of Science in Biology from Acadia University.
As a Social Worker and an individual, Nicole values compassion and collaboration. Her approach to social work is client-centered and strength-focused — this means staying attuned to your needs at every step during your counselling experience. She is empathetic to the needs of those she works with and values creating a safe place for clients to express themselves and feel understood. Nicole would be honoured to work with you and knows that you are the expert on your life.
In her spare time, Nicole loves to read, walk with her puppy, spend time with her children and husband, bake and be in nature.
