Rhonda Heft

Rhonda is a Registered Social Worker with 21 years of experience in mental health. She has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Waterloo. Rhonda provides individual therapy to adults and teenagers within a primary healthcare setting and previously worked in crisis mental health in the community, hospital, education sector and with police services.
Rhonda understands the difficulties and complexities of life challenges and has experience in providing therapy to individuals who experience depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, work related stress, relationship issues, low self-esteem, life transitions and sleep issues. In addition, Rhonda has a passion in supporting individuals who are interested in improving their self-worth and their relationships through attachment theory.
There is a strong correlation between mental health challenges and physical health concerns such as chronic pain, chronic disease, low energy and sleep issues. Rhonda’s approach is compassionate, trauma-informed and person-centered in supporting individuals to better understand the concerns that have brought them to therapy. Rhonda values her role in the therapeutic relationship through collaborating with individuals in recognizing their personal strengths, providing encouragement and empowering improvements towards unique personal wellness goals.
Rhonda has completed post-graduate professional development training and education in areas such as Trauma, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, Relationships Related to Attachment Theory and Grief. She has recently completed a Trauma Certificate from Wilfrid Laurier University. Rhonda has a passion for counselling and considers it to be and privilege to support individuals in their journey towards their goals for mental, physical, emotional, relational and spiritual wellness.
